Well I finished the psych test yesterday. After getting up at 4 am, driving 2 hours and standing in the cold ass NY rain for an hour I was let into the training building and given my test. (Along with about 800 others)
The test was 1500 questions and an essay about why I felt I was qualified for the position. The test took me about 3 hours, and was very draining. But I finished and have the date for my next challenge a meeting with a psychologist to discuss my results. (Which have not been determined yet) So on Wed Jan 24th I get all dressed up and go visit my psychologist who will determine if I am too crazy to work with criminals. I hope all is well with all of you. Bye for now Frank |

Frank, here is a word of advice about "getting dressed up" to see the shrink. Do NOT wear the helmet.

I would say no to the cape, I'd also probably skip the straitjacket. And be careful not to drool.
Good luck on the interview, Frank. |

Frank, what is happening with the job? Real estate is horrific down here. I am really struggling to stay afloat. In fact I am about to start subsidizing my real estate income by doing mobile real estate closings. I got my notary license a few weeks ago and will start doing closings as soon as I feel a bit more comfortable.
Are you still freezing in NY? |

Things here are going well, I took a job working security for an explosive manufacturing plant while I wait for the corrections dept to finish up my background check.
It is taking a while because my stepfather and his sons have acted like a bunch of jack assess for the past 30 years. In addition they are still sour about the events that separated the family and getting info from them for the investigator has been difficult to say the least. For example I needed my stepbrother Scott's birthday information, I had Anna e-mail him for me. When he found out it was for me it nearly started the whole war up again. Just stupid. On the bright side I now have another option for work as well because of my military background with explosives I have been told that I can get an internal job here at Dyno Nobel. The benefits and pay are comparable to the corrections dept and I would get the weekends off. And the top jobs pay more than anything in corrections. I am filling out the application this afternoon. There is ample opportunity out here for anyone with a good head on his or her shoulders, not like Florida. With the cost of living in Florida having been grossly inflated over the last 10 years or so it is actually cheaper to live out here. And we are both making more money. Anyway the cold is not that bad, I sort of like it, very different from the 8 month summers and yearlong mosquito attacks. And the geography is simply beautiful we have hills, mountains, snow, icicles, caves, and woods, its just awesome. The bland swampy tick infested trails that we frequented in Florida do not hold a candle to this. I think that this it why I love to travel, to keep things new. Later |

My brother is in law enforcement, Frank, (Jersey Trooper-watch out Mr. P.) and he had similar problems with his current in-laws, though not quite so bad. It's astounding how thorough the background checks are. It also makes me a bit glum that other peoples' actions could affect those who want to be in law enforcement.
Hope the other job pans out as well, though then you would have to choose between two great jobs. Ahhhh, the hardships Glad to hear you like the northeast. I'm with you; we have the best climate around. The winters might be cold (though not as cold here than a little further north), but the changes in season are always glorious. This past weekend was magnificent. I spent most of it outdoors and at one point my heart actually pounded when I thought about how beautiful it was out. Hiking in New York is good, also here in Pennsylvania. But, when you get a chance for a good long hike, shoot up to Vermont for a long weekend, especially in the fall. They definitely have the best foliage. |

This background check is the most intensive I have ever been through. I had a military top-secret clearance and a civilian DOD secret clearance background check and neither were even 1/10th as through as this is. Of course I did not have such an interesting history back then.
The whole change of season thing is going to be new to me. I can't wait to see the fall changes. And thanks for the hiking recommendations they all sound awesome. Later |

Well we are getting more snow today, it looks like we should be getting around 16 inches. Which means I get more snow driving practice!
Having grown up in Florida you would not think that I had any experience driving in snow like conditions, but I have driven in something similar which helped me quite a bit when I first started driving in the snow. Sand, we had a dirt road near my house that was made of powdery sand, I drove it often. Driving on it was much like driving in the snow. I would never have guessed as much. Later |

I have my interview with Dyno Nobel today at 3:30 pm.
Everyone knows me here already; the only potential problem is that I am competing against ex-employees who are already trained on the job but were laid off 2 years ago. But my overwhelming coolness has dazzled them already so I am not too worried. Later |
