I'm drinking like a fish. Is this drug supposed to make you so thirsty? I've never drank so much in my life. As of yesterday I've lost only a few pounds. But I am working out with weights so I am gaining muscle and retaining water as quick as I am losing fat. The scale probably won't be my friend for a while. I had to wear a belt with my jeans last night.

I've lost 7lbs as of today. It is hard to know how much is the diet pill and how much can be attributed to my workouts.

Yes, but today at the gym I had gained 2lbs back...but then lost 1lb on the treadmill again. LOL I know you aren't supposed to weight yourself every day, but I am too into this to be able to walk past the scale.

Chris, I'm going to use you as inspiration to shed the extra pounds I've been carrying around the past couple months.
Also, although a lot of the thinking goes against weighing yourself everyday, I've read of those who think it beneficial. I can't give you any citations, but the common argument for daily weigh-ins is that it is good to know the fluctuations of your body. It will also allow you to see any slight changes in weight immediately as they occur. You just always have to account for changes in water intake and retention, and muscle growth. A one pound gain (after sweating off 1lb of water) following dedicated weeks in the gym can, as far as I understand it, easily be attributed to muscle gain. |

I'm weighing myself frequently because I'm dieting and working out hard enough to expect to lose weight every single day. Maybe this is unrealistic. The weight loss does seem to have slowed down a bit. And as you say the muscle I'm putting on weighs more than the fat I'm losing. So I should probably weight myself every few days or maybe once per week instead of daily.
I stopped recording all of my workouts here in my Journal thread. I figure nobody really cares about such details. It would be fun to have a group of us discussing our own personal diet plans and workout routines as a group, but I'm not about to try to motivate other people. Right now I'm trying to stick with the program myslf. I have slacked off for years and this process of getting back into the groove isn't so easy. |

Chris, I just wanted to thank you very much for sending out that package. I received it today, and it was such a nice surprise (since I'd forgotten about it from that pre-Thanksgiving chat). That was really so kind of you to do.

I'm down 20lbs and one size in jeans. The past few days I have been rather sick and today I started on antibiotics. There is a cold going around and I appear to have caught it.

I've now lost a total of 25lbs. I'm happy with the weight loss, but I still have another 25lbs to go. So I'm not satisfied or jumping up and down. It is amazing that I allowed myself to gain so much weight over the years.
Plenty is happening in my personal life so I'll share a little here. Some days I think it is best to keep my personal stuff off BookTalk, but life is short and who really gives a darn. I'm getting married next weekend! Only a few members knew this, so now the cat is out of the bag. My fiance and I have been together for about two and a half years, but we've been friends for close to 10 years. We're an awesome couple and I feel pretty damn lucky, to be honest. Our wedding is next Sunday and the honeymoon is March 11th through the 18th. We're doing a week-long cruise of the Caribbean leaving the port of Miami. Our first stop is San Juan, Puerto Rico, then Antigua, St. Thomas, Great Stirrup Cay, and then back to Miami. Neither of us have done a cruise so we're pretty excited about this. Our cabin has a balcony so we'll get to see the ocean 11 stories below us the entire week. This seems like money well spent. Having an interior cabin just wouldn't be the same for a honeymoon. Maybe I'll post some pictures here when we've returned. Then again I've never liked having my picture taken. In fact I'm dreading being the center of attention for the wedding, but everyone assures me that she'll be the focus. Nobody cares what the groom looks like. It is all about the bride. And fortunately, my bride isn't a Bridezilla. Do you watch that show? Oh, and I'm sick again. What is up with this illness crap. Back in mid December I got sick and now I'm coughing up a lung again. Compared to most people I know I eat well and exercise regularly. I do spend quite a bit of time at the VA hospital with my father, so maybe I'm catching these colds from the sick people there. But...my father isn't getting sick, so this theory is lame. Speaking of my father he stepped up and contributed $250 to BookTalk a few weeks ago. This money is going towards Search Engine Optimization. I've hired an expert and am working with him to clean up the code and get better rankings for our site. This will be a slow process - especially since all of my free time is going towards preparing for this wedding. I guess that's about it for now. I just took some Nyquil and am starting to feel sleepy. I'd like to read some more of The God Delusion before I fall asleep. |

I knew the wedding was coming up, but couldn't remember exactly when! I am glad that you mentioned it here. I hope that everything goes just the way the two of you wish it to. Enjoy your honeymoon! It sounds wonderful.

And you've been told rightly -- you will not be the centre of attention for the most part...but pictures will be taken of you. Just keep looking at her, until just when the photographer(s) say "Okay, now, smile!" You'll turn around with a wonderful, silly, beaming face, and look like every other newly married person on the planet -- just perfect!
Have fun!! "All beings are the owners of their deeds, the heirs to their deeds."
