I don't remember the title. Nor do I remember the authors name.
It featured three stories, each set about 120 years apart, each linked to the one before it. A central unifying theme was Walt Whitman. In the first story, set in the 19th century industrial revolution, he appears briefly in person. In the second story, set in the early 21st century, his poem inspires a group of child terrorists (that part of the book is called `Childrens Crusade', I think). The third tale centers on a robot influenced by Whitmans poems and his alien companion.
Now...what is the title of this book. Its been on my get back to list for a month or two now. If I knew the title, I could probably find it again at the library.
