Author's note:
On of the arguments put forth by religionists on the subject of faith is that everyone uses it. But is religious faith really equivalent to the raitonal confidence most of us use to get through the day? This chapter attempts to address that issue. I write about different kinds of "faith" and the implications they suggest. There's also a bit about one of my personal heroes, from the Bible, and some speculation about how much religious people really rely on faith anyway. Do we really need a cosmic lifeboat?
